At the age of 25, former figure skater Andrew Nagode is working toward a second career as a lawyer. A student at Notre Dame Law School, he credits the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School (PA Cyber) for enabling him to experience an enriched life both inside and outside of the classroom. From elementary school through graduation, PA Cyber provided him with a flexible schedule so he could train with top figure skating coaches and discover a blooming affinity for politics and law.
When enrolling Nagode at PA Cyber, his family selected the self-paced course format that enabled him to train with prestigious skating coaches during the day. He mastered the notoriously difficult triple axel and won a regional championship and competed at nationals. He also volunteered on political campaigns and led the local YMCA Youth and Government delegation.
At age 18, Nagode graduated from PA Cyber as an honors student and retired from figure skating to pursue a bachelor’s degree in politics. At internships, he worked alongside lawyers and considered becoming one himself.
After college, he worked as an assistant at a law firm where he learned what it really meant to be a lawyer. He then applied to his top choice for law school, the University of Notre Dame, and got in. His unique background helped him to stand out on the application.
Now in his second year of law school, Nagode studies under top experts in the legal field. He is especially interested in litigation because, as a former competitive figure skater, he never shies away from competition.
Andrew Nagode is another example of how PA Cyber and its students have thrived with a future full of boundless possibility. To begin your PA Cyber journey, visit pacyber.org.
